I want to make your writing stronger!

There are few things I appreciate more than a well-written sentence.  This love of words has forced me into a neurotic tic by which I line-edit in my head no matter what I’m reading:  newspaper articles, advertisements, novels, work emails–no matter the type of writing, I read and think about how I could make each sentence better or stronger (or, if it’s perfect, I marvel at what makes it so).

Why You Need Me

I get really excited about helping people develop and retain their writing style, while making their prose as effective and powerful as it can be.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in English from Vassar College and am currently pursuing my MFA in creative writing from Fairfield University.  I spend a lot of time thinking about what makes good writing work.  Before each of my school residencies, I read and line-edit and comment on about fifteen of my fellow students’ stories and novel chapters.  I’ve also been a reader for our literary magazine, Mason’s Road, and an intern for the literary agency 3 Arts.  Oh, and I read on average two books per week.

Rates

I specialize in editing eBooks for bloggers and short stories and novels for fiction writers.  I don’t just provide grammar and spelling checks–believe it or not, spellcheck is not foolproof–I’ll also give feedback on content and structure.  Longer pieces that require extensive feedback on content may be priced slightly higher. 

1-20 pages: $2.25 per 500 words

20-50 pages: $2.00 per 500 words

50-150 pages: $1.75 per 500 words
